An eighteenth century copy after an engraving by N. de Larmessin which derived from a painting, now lost, by Lancret. Lancret painted a series of four paintings depicting the Times of Day, engravings of which were exhibited at the Salon of 1741. Copies of the four paintings by the artist J.C. d'Heur, all painted on panel, were sold at the Dormer sale, Antwerp, 27th May 1777.
